North Castle Fire District 2 is located in the hamlet of Armonk and the town of North Castle, New York. The Fire District is governed by five Commissioners, a Secretary and a Treasurer. The Fire Commissioners are elected by the voters of the District and serve a five year term.
Fire District elections take place each year on the second Tuesday of December. The Fire District Secretary and Treasurer are appointed by the Board. In order to serve as Commissioner or Treasurer you must be a resident of Fire District 2.
The Board of Fire Commissioners is responsible for providing fire protection and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) within Fire District 2, and EMS for the Banksville Fire Protection District. The Board prepares an annual budget and the town collects the taxes for the District. These funds are used to:
- Maintain the fire station and associated apparatus and equipment
- Purchase ambulance and fire supplies Provide firefighting and EMS gear for our members
- Fire hydrant rental paid to the Town of North Castle
- Insurance
- Provide daytime/weekday contract EMT’s
- Utilities and fuel
- A retirement program for our volunteers
The annual public hearing for the budget takes place every year on the third Tuesday in October. This hearing in past years has begun at 7:00 p.m. As the date approaches a notice will be posted on this website with the specific time.
The Board meets monthly at the Firehouse located at 400 Bedford Road in Armonk, NY. Regular Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. Specific meeting dates can be found under the HOME tab. Minutes from past meetings can be found under the DATA tab. Board meetings are open to the public.
